Auction January-February 2010

Even Sotheby's and Christie's catalogs all hang out.
At Sotheby's auction of Old Masters in New York - Rembrandt and Zurbaran!
At the Impressionists in London, both auction houses interesting collections.
At Christie is a separate auction Surrealists, it is interesting that says Meister.

Christy something closed two directories, and then, if I remember correctly, in the evening Goncharova assessment seems to be 5-7 million pounds.

at Sotheby's in February is a big Goncharova.

No, I do not understand how can a great job Zurbaran! to the same six-foot size measured at 3-4 million dollars, and Goncharova at half the amount of twice the price. With all my respect and love for her work. This is wrong.

In my opinion, it is not correct to compare the modernists and the Impressionists with the old masters are not from the standpoint of art history not in terms of pure market. Better Goncharov compare to anyone whether contemporaries ... Zurbarán (Francisco de Zurbarán) all did the 17 th century! ..

Zurbaran it sold in 1998 for USD 1,900,000 to Christie (Saint Dorothea).

And the most expensive Zurbaran was sold in 2007 at Sotheby's for USD 3,100,000 (Christ and the Virgin in the House of Nazareth).

sergejnowo, Kharlamov's not a bad artist, but not the hero of my novel. Comment on prices it is difficult for me, however, as Peter Vereshchagin, for example .... Clover (father) (in his best years), I like more than both of these artists ... And if you compare them with Shishkin, Aivazovsky, or Bogoliubov, here and say nothing! They must be worth many times more Vereshchagin, and AA Kharlamov combined!

Normal salon painter. Demand for it always will be. But personally I would not buy for this money. I think that there are more interesting possibilities ... But as they say, taste and color ...

The most expensive Kharlamov today! Sold for USD 2,800,000 in 2007, the size 109h146 Sobis (New York) (Here, I sincerely at a loss!!!: Confused :):
