Since 1874 worked at the Stroganov School of Technical Drawing, where he studied and specialized in decoration and crafts. Created on the orders of lighting projects and church plate. In 1880 he was issued with a diploma scholar painter. He continued his studies in MUZhViZ at IM Pryanishnikov, ES and P. Sorokin, Vasily Perov. For educational work he was awarded two silver medals. Upon its completion in 1882, moved to St. Petersburg and entered the IAH. In 1883 he was awarded a large and a small silver medal for the sketch and drawing, in 1884 - a large silver coin. In 1886 he received the title of class artist level 2 for the performance of the "St. Irina takes arrows at St. Sebastian. "
