May I ask is this. In the early 90s I was given a look through a small albomchik in paperback , there was a Soviet /Russian artist , apparently , a surrealist (because the paintings were surreal .) By painting look like , in my opinion, only Salvador Dali somehow gloomy or something. The Soviet /Russian reality , like, no way they do not reflect a surreal views. I remember one picture, there is a cow (or a rhinoceros ) runs down the street surreal . What could it be for an artist? .. Still, if there is any review article on surrealism in the USSR /Russia of that period , I will be very grateful for the link .

In 1919, Max Ernst created his first collages . To them, he took prints of scientific publications, and old catalogs , flyers and posters, pages of popular novels , etc.
The plot, taken out of its context and transferred to the absurd surroundings turned into a surreal image . Ernst did a whole series of such works , such as " a novel in collage " Stobezgolovaya Woman ( 1929) , consisting of 149 tracks .

Another explanation " of the novel in collage " - Mirza prompted S.G.Kara : unreadable scanned the audience instead of reading comics . This has become a familiar kind of power the information . It turned out the "read " the novel in collage .
Q: Does Max Ernst sought to establish exactly surreal images ?
