After the war, visited a children's art school, but classes had to leave for a living. He was mostly self-taught. Lived mainly in Moscow and in the countryside under Zhelnino Zagorsk (Sergiev Posad). Took part in the movement of the "other art" since 1958, when it held its first exhibition (at MSU). He showed his works in town schedules since as "nonconformists" were granted (in 1975) right there on display.

Distinctive combined tradition of "naive art" and symbolist paintings-vision (in the spirit of "Blue Rose") with a point, puantilistskoy manner of writing, and later - with reminiscences of medieval sewing pearls. Among his works are the two thematic groups: the fabulous, sometimes grotesque images of some kind of romantic country, mostly older (Procession of gnomes, 1957, private collection, Moscow, Purple Fantasy, 1959, the Museum of "The Other Art" at Rossii'skom gosudarstvennom Humanities University, Moscow ) and also romantic tale, but going back to the Christian iconography of the paintings with miniature temples, figures of angels and saints in typical-central Russian landscape (Contemplation, 1973, ibid; Gold Russia, 1981, Approximation of a mysterious planet, 1982, both work - in Zimmerli Museum at Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA; I do not know, 1986, Tretyakov Gallery). In the early years, as well as in the later period, often wrote of pure abstraction in his last decade - with bright, sparkling colors, in which he sought to visually reproduce the music of Mozart and other favorite composers.

There was also a virtuoso drawing: for many years created a simple pencil-thin silver composition "lace" - with the same religious symbolism in a semi-fantastic landscapes.
