The etchings of Rembrandt accidentally found in a toilet
Priest named David O'Connell found in a toilet at the Catholic University of America engraving, signed by Rembrandt, wrote on January 13 The Washington Post. Engraving has not attributed, but experts are inclined to believe that its author was indeed a Rembrandt.
O'Connell made an unexpected discovery more than a decade ago, when he became rector of the university. For a long time, the priest showed the product only to its visitors, and only last year decided to check it for authenticity. Local assessor confirmed that the engraving is original, but he did not see the work itself, finding only her photograph. Authenticity findings later confirmed another expert from California.
According to experts, engraved with a high probability may belong to Rembrandt, but just that no one argues. Whatever it was, the staff of the University organized an exhibition of the archive, where they presented to the public prints and other works that were stored in the collection of the University, but have never been exhibited. How much appreciate the engraving, if its authenticity is proven, is unknown.
