Internet media released from the obligation to moderate forums
 

According to the decision of Supreme Court of Russia, online media will not be held responsible for reader comments and should not be subjected to these comments censored before publication, reports "Interfax". Roskomnadzor its part may require the media to remove or edit any given comment.
The decision was taken on June 15 at the plenum, on the basis of which was unanimously adopted Resolution "On the practice of law by the courts of Russia 'On Mass Media'. In accordance with the text of the document reader comments are subject to that part of the law "On Mass Media", which are governed by "works of authorship, going on the air without an appointment (ie Part 2 of Article 24 and paragraph 5 of Part 1 of Article 57).
If the supervisor determines that a comment violates the law, it may apply to the editors of Internet media with a request to edit or delete this comment. Responsibility for the media can occur only if the comment will remain unchanged and the media will not be able to prove that the claims against him are unfounded. Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court Vasyl Nechaev explained that the procedure described above applies only to the registered Internet media. "Undocumented Media will be responsible directly, while for registered it will come only after the treatment supervisor," - he said.
