The Russians XVIII-XIX centuries. Characters, outfits, Hobbies

Friends, we recently finished a small selection of our smolikau (rollers), United by the theme "Россияне XVIII-XIX centuries. Characters, outfits, Hobbies". This collection is quite informative and particularly interesting because part of the work made by a foreigner who lived in Russia in those early years.

1. Christian Gottfried Heinrich Geissler (1770-1844)

Christian Gottfried Heinrich Geissler - a German painter, engraver on copper, the Illustrator, worked in Russia in the 1790—1798. the Author of the famous engravings album" Изображение uniforms of the Russian Imperial army, consisting of 88 individuals illuminated" (Saint-Петербург, 1793). In 1793—1794 years participated in the expedition of P. S. Pallas in the South of Russia as a painter and engraver. Did a series of sketches of the costumes of the inhabitants of the cities of Russia and Crimea.

2. John Augustus Atkinson (1775-1830)

John Augustus Atkinson (1775-1833) — English artist-акварелист and engraver on copper XVIII - the nineteenth century. In 1784, at the age of nine years, came to St.-Петербург with his uncle. 3. Coleman, Karl Ivanovich (1786-1846)

Karl Ivanovich Kolman (it. Karl Kollman) was born in Germany. He received his artistic education in Munich. Then moved to Russia to St-Петербург. Here he continued his studies with his uncle Ignaz Sebastian Colbert. Became interested in the study of watercolor techniques and studying Russian folk traditions. For the skill and excellent command of watercolors K. I., Kohlmann was awarded the title of academician of Saint-Петербургской Academy of arts.

4. Gampeln Karl Karlovich (1794-1880)

Gampeln Karl Karlovich - was born deaf. He was educated in Vienna — in the school for the deaf. Due to the kind attitude of the Director of the school May, Gampeln enrolled in the number of pupils from the Vienna Academy of fine arts. During the Congress of Vienna in 1815 he was presented to Emperor Alexander I, who paid for further training Ganelina. 5. Sekowski Ignatius Stepanovich (1815-1871)

6. Solntsev Fedor G. (1801-1892)
Fedor Grigorievich Solntsev - artist, architect and historian, academician and Professor of the Imperial Academy of arts, specialist in art of archaeology, head of publication" Древности Russian state". Was in charge of the decoration of the Great Kremlin Palace. Born Theodore G. 14 APR 1801 in s. top-Никульском Mologa district, Yaroslavl province in the family manor (serfs) of the count Musin-Пушкина. 7. Vinogradova-Бенуа Nina (1936-1986)

Vinogradova-Бенуа Nina - artist-график, stage designer, art historian, restorer. Nina was born July 15, 1936 in Leningrad in a family of architects. Studied at art history Department of the historical faculty of Leningrad state University. From 1957 with her husband artist Ilya Sergeyevich Glazunov (b. 1930) lived in Moscow, where he graduated from graphic Department of the Polygraphic Institute. Designed books; he worked in the art linocuts; wrote watercolor still lifes. Researched the history of the Russian costume.
