Johann Lorenz Jensen (Johan Laurentz Jensen) — Danish artist (1800—1856) who specialized in flower painting.
At the young age of fourteen, he entered the Royal Academy where he studied under Christopher William Akersberga. His talent attracted the attention of crown Prince Christian Frederik, later king Christian VIII, who awarded him the scholarship.Later, Jensen visited Hamburg, Amsterdam and Paris, before becoming a student of Alexander Bronner, Director of the famous Sèvres porcelain factory, and with whom he perfected the technique of writing. His paintings are still lifes with flowers embody extraordinary elegance and detail in colors.
Flowers Jensen usually made in the form of a bouquet standing in a vase, usually on a tray. Dark neutral background is allowed to show colorful color colors. Roses were often the main theme, is sometimes added another flower such as a Lily or a few flowers of different varieties.
Jensen have mastered the art of color reproduction. This can be seen even in his earlier works. His paintings are very rich in color variety,magnificent shades and brightness of colors.
