Welz Ivan (Johann-Александр) Avgustovich ( 1866 @- 1926) @- Russian painter-пейзажист, of Austrian origin.
Born in the village of Sofino, Samara province. The son of an Austrian merchant, who took Russian citizenship in 1889. He studied at St. Petersburg Academy of arts (1885 – 1891) in the class of landscape painting in M. Klodt. For student work was repeatedly awarded with medals.
Acted as the continuer of traditions of Russian landscape school. In the work skillfully the achievements of the Wanderers, organically combining the realistic features with academic principles of painting. I. A. welz became widely known since his training at the Academy.
