the world"s First Museum dedicated to the collection, preservation and study of carpet was opened in Baku in 1967 in the building of Juma-мечети in the historical part of the city in Icheri-шехере. In 1992, when the mosque was returned to its religious functions, the Museum moved to the Museum center, and in August 2014 the Museum moved to a building specially built for this Museum - building in the form of rolled carpet.

the Museum displays carpets from different regions of the country, different schools and historical periods. Here you can see carpets of Gazakh, Guba, Shirvan, Ganja, Tabriz, Sheki.

Young, energetic Museum Director Shirin Melikova been working hard on studying not only" коврового" heritage, but also a variety of exhibits belonging to the history of Azerbaijan.
