Painter Claude Vignon (Claude Vignon) was born in 1593 in the French city Tour to a wealthy family. He took painting lessons in Paris with the famous French painter Jacob Bones. In 1610 Claude Vignon visited Rome, where became interested in the works of Caravaggio and worked on the technique of chiaroscuro. Six years later, in 1616, the painter returned to his homeland and joined the Parisian Guild of artists. During this period, Vignon, on the orders of Marie de Medici, several times went to Italy and Spain for the purchase of paintings for the Royal gallery of paintings.
In 1623 Claude Vignon went to Spain and for two years worked in the Spanish capital.
1625 Claude Vignon returned to Paris and was appointed court painter at the court of king Louis XIII, wrote the paintings by order of the Royal court for palaces of the Louvre and Palais-Рояль, and by order of cardinal Richelieu.

Claude Vignon was twice married and became a father just an incredible number of children the artist was 34 daughters and a son (in the footsteps of his father, went only to the eldest son of Claude).
In 1651, Claude Vignon received a professorship at the Royal Academy of painting.
