In Yerevan, the gallery "Gabon", which is located near Cascade, these days an exhibition of works Kadzhika Hakobyan. Fate decreed that the first solo exhibition was posthumous. Kadzhik Hakobyan was born in 1950. Echmiadzin, was a fundamental art education, graduating from Art College. F. Terlemezyan, and then, in 1980 - the Yerevan Fine Arts and Theatre Institute, where he studied in the studio of E. Isabekyan. Search of his own artistic language, and most importantly - your own theme, lasted a long time.

The characters in these pictures live everyday and yet mysterious life, their simple way of life creates a host of issues. They are not beautiful, but not ugly, big-headed, disproportionate male and female, children and adults often depicted completely naked, but for some reason they do not cause nudes bodily sensations, paradoxically, they seem to be "clothed their nakedness." Man - this how it shows the artist, released his home life in endless cares, the burden of which he is literally on his shoulders. Sitting on each other figures have become one of the favorite motifs Hakobyan, but the metaphor is not as clear as it might seem at first sight. According to the artist's son Hakob (young painter, who is completing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts), here rendered memories Kadzhika grandmother since childhood deeply entrenched in his subconscious. Like many of the descendants of the survivors of the 1915 genocide, an artist like myself emotionally experience what happened to test his ancestors. But semantics works Hakobyan much broader than simply the projection of the unconscious, which would have severe feelings for them or standing. Artist if purposely leaves no signs of the times. Being, so to speak, in its pure form, devoid of any grid coordinates, does have a vector - works on many characters move somewhere, or at least getting ready to leave. Sometimes the whole family moved with their belongings and livestock.

However, this feeling is quite deceptive - is moving along the same coast amid constant water surface. A close examination will show that the movement in general, or just aimlessly goal so far, that the artist gives up its image, not even a hint in the form of "light at the end of the tunnel" or reward for perseverance.

However, sometimes the artist depicts a group of people on vacation, playing music, masteryaschih toy boats, playing with each other or with some exotic creatures like a huge toad, rhinoceros, the tortoise. But looking at them for some reason you realize that this is just a rest on the way. All "short stories" directly or indirectly, is a story about the time rootlessness of human existence, the never-ending quest to reach the "promised land", his true home.

 The persistent image of a sea landscape inevitably makes you want to somehow interpret the reality that is hidden behind the image. Immensity, eternity water space, beckoning distance, for which, apparently, is a cherished goal of pilgrims. No wonder the boat with a raised or deflated sails is also essential "character" almost all stories. In general, "sail" - one of the traditional motifs in art. I recall by association stretching into the misty depths string of men and women in the famous painting by Watteau A. "Sailing to the Island of Cythera." It is a feeling of mild sadness, as usually happens when parting. The same feeling cause novel Kadzhika Hakobyan told the artist, "sailed" over the horizon, perhaps, to reassure those who are on the way.
