ARTIST-КЛАССИК BRONNIKOV, FEDOR ANDREYEVICH (1827-1902)

ACADEMIC REALISM
Fedor Andreevich Bronnikov was born 17 September 1827 in the family of icon-painter in the city of Shadrinsk in Perm province. A child Fyodor was fond of drawing. First painting lessons by his father. After his father"s death at the age of sixteen years he goes with a passing train in Petersburg, hoping to enter the Academy of arts. But the first time failed to do. Then he becomes an apprentice in the engraving workshop. On the capable young man drew the attention of the famous sculptor Peter Klodt. He procured him a free ticket to auditor drawing classes of the Academy. From 1950 Bronnikov becomes a full-fledged student at the Academy in the class of historical painting. In 1851 he received a silver medal: for small portraits from life, and a big — for the picture" Возвращение of Ulysses to his house". In the following year received the gold medal for the painting" Проповедь St. John the Baptist in the desert"; in 1853 — a gold medal for the painting" Божья the mother of joy of all who sorrow". After graduating from the Academy in 1854 Bronnikov went abroad pensioner of the Academy and settled in Rome, where the via Vittoria gave myself a Studio. In Italy it remains and after the termination of term of business trip. One of his first works, which attracted attention, was the picture of" Римские baths" (1858).
In 1863 Bronnikov comes to Russia and brings the large canvases:" Квестор reading a death sentence to Senator Tracey Пету".
