For decoration of facades and interiors of this Palace are made of marble, and the different – 32 varieties. Therefore the Palace and began to call the Marble. And it was called the Palace for the favorite.
However, the construction of the Palace lasted for 17 years and, unfortunately, count Orlov, and not waiting for the completion of the work, died. Now the Marble Palace placed at the disposal of the Russian Museum.
