Birthday of Valentin Serov (1865-1911)

Today, January 19, was born the great Russian artist, classic of world art Serov Valentin Alexandrovich (1865-1911).
Valentin Serov born in the family of composer and music critic Alexander Nikolayevich Serov and pianist Valentina S. Serova. Studied at I. E. Repin, and then entered the Imperial Academy of Arts. Visited Germany, Holland, Italy, where he studied European painting. He was a member of the Association of the Wanderers, and took an active part in the creation of the artistic Association" Мир art". Serov was a member of the Board of the Tretyakov Gallery. He taught at the Moscow school of painting , sculpture and architecture.
