THE ARTIST ANTONIO MANCINI
Antonio Mancini (Antonio Mancini, 1852 – 1930) – Italian painter.
Antonio Mancini was born in Rome in November, 1852. His artistic ability manifested in early childhood. At the age of twelve he entered the higher art school in Naples. His teachers were Domenico Morelli (Morelli Domenico, 1823-1901) and Filippo Palizzi (Filippo Palizzi).
Under their leadership, creative development Antonio Mancini happened very quickly, and in 1872 his first work appeared in the Paris Salon. He soon became acquainted with the Impressionists Edgar Degas and Edouard Manet that influenced his style.
1881 Antonio Mancini suffered mental illness. Two years after that, the artist moved to Rome and lived there for about twenty years. Later he moved to Frascati where he lived until 1918. The artist"s life during this period took place in poverty, he survived thanks to the help of friends and connoisseurs of his work. After the First world war, his financial situation has improved.
Mancini Died in Rome in 1930. Buried in the Basilica of saints Boniface and Alexius on the Aventine hill in Rome.
