the Mansion, which now houses the press-центр famous and popular edition of" Аргументы and facts", belonged to the representative of one of the richest Russian families - Ivan Baryshnikov. The owner of the horse and tanneries, paper, glass and cloth factories, bakery industry, as well as enterprising and creative person. In addition, Ivan was a great lover of art, and was the largest collector of paintings of the time. In his collection were works by Bryullov, Levitsky and even Raphael.



Also a lot of interest in it and architecture, and, of course, for the design of their estates invited eminent architects. The present mansion, which was built after his retirement in the rank of major, well-known architect of the time, Matvey Kazakov in 1802. The main building consisted of the chamber of the XVII and XVIII centuries. The front facade was decorated with Corinthian portico, preserved to the present day.



To him in the original version converged galleries with columns, which to our days has not been preserved. During the fire of 1812 the manor was miraculously spared from the fire. But, unfortunately, was almost completely destroyed by the French. In the future, the family Baryshnikov had a long time to rebuild the family nest. And, here, almost all creations of the architect Matvey Kazakov was destroyed.





the Mansion belonged to the genus Baryshnikova for 50 years. When the youngest daughter of the owner, Anna, was married to Lieutenant-Colonel Stepan Begichev, the estate also passed into the hands of this noble family. After the revolution the estate was transferred to the Treasury, in the house made a hospital, and since 1922 in the mansion settled the Institute of sanitary enlightenment of the Ministry of health of the USSR. Of course, that in those years the estate has suffered no less than during the Napoleonic invasion. And only in the early 90-х years, the mansion was leased to" Аргументам and facts"



With the advent of the house of the new owner, and changed his appearance. Were restored practically in its original form was recreated interiors, which now delight visitors and guests of the press center. The outside walls were plastered and painted in a traditional and inherent in the classical style, yellow.
