Dear representatives of the Katyn Families!
Dear Sirs
In April 1940, killed more than 21 thousand Polish prisoners from concentration camps and prisons of the NKVD.
This act of genocide has been committed by the will of Stalin on the orders of the highest Soviet authorities. Monstrous culmination Union Third Reich and the Soviet Union, the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and the attack on Poland on Sept. 17, 1939 was the Katyn crime.
Not only in the forests of Katyn, but also in Tver, Kharkov, in the other known and yet unknown places executions were killed by citizens of the Second Polish Republic - the people who formed the foundation of our statehood, steadfast in their service to the fatherland.

The Polish officers, priests, servants, police officers, border guards, prison employees were killed without trials and sentences. They were victims of an undeclared war. Their murder was committed in violation of the rights and the conventions of the civilized world. Their dignity - as soldiers, the Poles and people - was trampled. It was a time when a memory and the truth about Katyn had to pay a high price. But relatives of those killed, and other brave men were true for this memory, guarding her and the next generation of Poles. They carried it through the whole period of communist rule, and trusted their compatriots in a free, independent Poland. Therefore, all of them, and especially to the families of Katyn, we must express our respect and gratitude. On behalf of the Polish Republic, I extend my deepest gratitude for the fact that protecting the memory of their loved ones, you saved such an important sphere of our Polish consciousness and identity.
Katyn was a painful wound in Polish history and for decades poisoned relations between the Polish and Russian.
So do the same so that the Katyn wound could finally completely healed and delayed. We are already on the right track. We, Poles, appreciate what they did in recent years the Russians. And in this way, bring closer our peoples, we must move on, not stopping or stepping back.
All the circumstances of the Katyn crime should be fully explored and investigated.
It is important that at the juridical level was recorded innocent victims that were open all documents relating to this crime to the Katyn lie forever disappeared from the public space. We require these actions, especially for the sake of the victims and respect for the suffering of their families. But we ask them for the sake of common values, which should be the foundation of trust and partnership with honey neighboring people throughout Europe.
