Sarasate was born in the family of a military Kapellmeister, and very early showed musical ability. Learning to play the violin began at the age of five and already three years later he gave his first public concert in La-Корунье. The society showed to the young virtuoso, genuine interest, and with the financial support of one of the countesses he was able to start training in Madrid, where he performed in the presence of Queen Isabella. Commending the talents of Sarasate, the Queen presented him with a gift of a violin made by Stradivarius. In 1854 violinist entered the Paris Conservatoire, where he studied with Jean Delfina Alara, and graduated with honors with the first awards in the specialty and in harmony in 1859. Solo debut Sarasate was held in Paris in 1860, and he soon received international fame thanks to the perfect clarity of execution, a rich palette of sound, virtuoso technique and ease of playing. At the same time, his first works for violin, among which the fantasy on themes from the Opera" Кармен" which he performed brilliantly on his numerous concerts. In 1867,—1871 held his concert tour of North and South America, four times the musician visited Russia.
