Bogolyubov was Born in the family of a veteran of the war of 1812, according to his mother he - grandson A. I. Radishchev. In 1841 graduated from the Naval cadet corps and served in the Navy, visited many countries. Since 1849, attended classes Petersburg Academy of Arts, she studied with M. N.
