Alexey Petrovich Bogolyubov was born on 16 Mar 1824, According to his mother he was the grandson of A. I. Radishchev. In 1841 Bogolyubov graduated from the Naval cadet corps, served in the Navy and visited many countries. Since 1849, studied in the Petersburg Academy of Arts. The greatest influence on him I. K. Aivazovsky. In 1853 Bogolyubov out of the Academy with high honors and certificate 1-й degree to the title of the class artist. At the same time he is seeking resignation from the service and was appointed Chief artist of the naval staff. In 1854-60. he travels through Europe, hard and works a lot with nature. In Paris. Bogolyubov strongly takes care of Russian pensioners (I. E. Repin, V. D. Polenov, K. Savitsky, V. V. Vereshchagin, A. K. Beggrow, etc.), introduces them to French art, takes the best orders, arranges exhibitions of Russian painters, finally, in 1877 founded the Society of mutual assistance and charity Russian artists.
