SIMILAR TO the CLASSIC REALISM

Raffaello Sorbi Italian painter-жанрист. Studied at the Academy of fine arts in Florence under the guidance of the historical painter and portraitist Antonio Ciseri. At the age of seventeen, in 1861, Sorbi won the competition for the Florence Triennale, presenting the historical picture" Корсо Donati wounded Catalans in San-Сальви in Florence". Promotion paintings on the international market contributed to the acquaintance with the French art dealer eugène Gopalam, which in 1872 the artist signed an exclusive agreement for a period of seven years, receiving as a fee of 1,000 francs per month. In 1892 the artist was elected Professor at the Academy of fine arts in Florence. Sorbi participated in exhibitions in Florence, Parma and Paris. In the early twentieth century Sorbi settled in the countryside, in the village of Mugello, which became the background for many rural costumed genre paintings of the artist.
