[18 (30). IX.1878 - 1942] - artist and teacher. Rod. family circus artist. Successfully graduated from the Kharkov school of drawing and painting. Since 1900 YA.-Z. lived and taught in the Kursk real school drawing. Under his leadership in 1906 - 1910, students of a secondary school and other educational institutions of the Kursk had an opportunity to show their work at the exhibition, together with professional artists. YA.-Z. - One of the founders (1910) and chairman (from 1911 to 1914) Association of Artists of Kursk. The partnership was officially registered in 1912 in a private home YA.-Z. on the street. Gay, № 6. During its existence the Association YA.-Z. was a constant participant of all exhibitions. At Fellowship YA.-Z. organized a studio in which he and the teacher. Among his students were beginning to AA Deineka, VV and SV Andrievich, etc. After the October Revolution, his studio continued to exist for several years. Since 1919 the artist taught drawing in the schools of Kursk and Kursk Institute of Education, until its dissolution in 1922. In 1931 YA.-Z. traveled with his family in Vladikavkaz, and later moved to Kiev. During WWII, when he was seriously ill, YA.-Z. remained in occupied Kiev and died there.
The artist worked in the portrait genre (portraits IA Cupcini, DK Popov, mother, Tsarevich Alexei), painted landscapes ("Cove in Batumi," "Gypsy encampment," After the Rain ", etc.). Was varied and technique: oil, pastel, watercolor, pencil, charcoal.
