Dear friends, the
I need your little help. There is a very famous German artist - Caspar David Friedrich. His brief biography: Friedrich Caspar David (Friedrich Kaspar David) (1774-1840) German painter, representative of the romantic landscape. In the years 1794-1798 Frederick attended the Copenhagen Academy of Arts, then worked in Dresden. The largest landscape of early German Romanticism, Friedrich portrayed as a rule, wooded mountains of Bavaria or the desert coast of Pomerania, with human figures, as if lost amid nature. Subjecting the effects of landscape motifs scattered, the mysterious flickering or flashing light magically (more lunar than solar), Friedrich personified elemental power, the formidable and almost mystical infinity of the universe, the subtle harmony of forces of nature, movements of the human soul, the feeling of a breakthrough into the unknown. Landscapes of Frederick differ strictly adjusted figure, the definition of spatial planning, game-rich chiaroscuro (Landscape with a Rainbow ", 1809, Weimar," Two, contemplating the moon ", 1819, Art Gallery, Dresden). Troubles inner turmoil sometimes turn into paintings of the artist in the mood of aching sadness, the bitter awareness of the impermanence of all earthly ("Mass in the Gothic ruins", 1819, National Gallery, Berlin, "The death of" Hope "in ice", 1822, Kunsthalle, Hamburg). His work can be viewed here http://smallbay.ru/friedrich.html It is known that after the Second World War, 20 of his works were transported to Russia. I am very interested in their fate. Maybe someone heard something about this artist or the presence of his works in private collections in Russian? I would appreciate any information. |
