I want to introduce the forum with the work of the artist Edward Seago (Edward Brian (Ted) Seago). Why Edward Seago? First, it is little known in our country. Secondly, it is interesting in the sense that he is very English painter. Very English, not only because it continues the tradition of English painting, but also because his work is known throughout England - from the Lord to an ordinary student. And what better to talk about the nation, but its preference in art?
There is another reason why the work of Edward Seago seems to me interesting. Namely, when we talk about the market of Western art, we talk about it more often in connection with the sale of works of loud recognized masters (or issued for the add-on), forgetting that this unit sales compared with the total volume of transactions. Works by Edward Seago just relate to that segment of the market of fine art, which is the largest number of sales. Of course, in the history of English art, namely the English landscape painting, we know and more important painters such as Turner or Constable. But creativity Seago interesting precisely because (among other things), which gives us the opportunity to expand their ideas about the market of fine art. This, in turn, through the comparative analysis will allow us to more clearly understand what is happening on the domestic art market. Articles about the artist in Russian I could not find, so I had to translate English text. I hope my translation of a quick fix will help in getting acquainted with the work of this artist. Biographical article (translated from English): Edward Seago (Edward Brian (Ted) Seago) 1910-1974 Norfolk County for many Englishmen associated with the name of Edward Seago. Here he was born, here he spent most of his creative life, here he created the best-known work. Traditions Norvchiskoy art school, representatives of which are Cotman and Crome, were significantly advanced in the works Seago. His work has a broad stylistic range that may have made its product popular worldwide. Последний раз редактировалось Тютчев; 23.05.2010 в 00:14. |

All of his childhood and youth of Edward suffered from heart disease. He could not go to school and had to spend much time at home. Instead of classes he sketched out the bedroom window. Parents Seago were against his passion for painting. They tried to convince him, that a career in business is more suitable for its future. This confrontation, on the one hand, it was painful for him, but on the other hand, allowed him to use the disease to do what he likes, ie draw. He was mostly self-taught, though not waive councils artists, if you felt that they might learn something. Seago received additional strength from contact with those who supported his desire to overcome children's lack of confidence in the work. Popularity came to Edward rather late. Seago has always suffered from a lack of attention from the critics for his creativity. |

Patronage of Lord Melchett gave the artist financial independence, he was treated like family, he was invited to remain in Woodfalls as long as he wishes, to encourage it to expand creative horizons. His numerous trips abroad ousted from his life circus and sporting paintings, which he had previously earned a living. But with a trip to Venice, Edward, a new all-consuming interest - ballet. In 1937 he traveled to Monte Carlo and New York, following a ballet troupe. It is a journey and friendship with Anton Dolin gave him the opportunity to write the greatest dancers of the world. The result of this creative period was the creation of the book "Tribute to Ballet" (1938), in collaboration with the poet John Masefield. Works by Edward Seago were used as illustrations for this edition. Fee for good to his attitude on the part of Lord Melchett, Seago wrote two large family portrait in 1935 and 1937. In one of them depicts Henry Mond, son of Lord Melchett, who grew up in the eyes of the artist, later becoming his closest friend. Добавлено через 4 минуты continuation ...
