Interestingly it turned out that it is rather free-style copy (about 1900) with pictures «In a reverie».
The author of the original very well-known English artist Sir Frank Dixie (1853-1928). Dixie was elected president of the Royal Academy in 1924. Dixie was knighted in 1925 and died in 1928 Many of his paintings contain a dramatic, historical and legendary scenes. He was also a noted painter of fine, highly-finished portraits of fashionable women, which of course brought him material success. Many of these portraits are so beautiful, that's really hard to treat them with disapproval - happy, was the fashionable lady, whose portrait was written by Dixie! He was one of those artists of the nineteenth century, which experienced a revolution in the art of the twentieth century. |
