ATHENS, Jan. 26 - RIA Novosti, Alexei Bogdanovsky. Greek archaeologists have discovered an ancient sunken ship in the Aegean Sea and raised on the surface of ancient amphorae, which 2,5 thousand years, reported the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Greece on Tuesday.

Underwater investigations were carried out in November 2009 at a depth of 25-49 meters in the area uninhabited island Poliegos 200 kilometers south-east of Athens.

According to archaeologists, the ship sank at the end of the fifth - the beginning of the fourth century BC. It was carrying amphorae, many of whom are still at the crash scene on the seabed. These amphorae, judging by their form, take place with the surrounding Cycladic islands.

On the surface raised four large amphorae, which were used to transport supplies, and two small desktop vessel. In addition, at the crash scene found two anchors.

Discovery may help scientists better understand a brisk trade, which were famous in the ancient Aegean. In 2010, expected to continue excavations, archaeologists have found very important.
