Teaching the art of landscape painting at the Art Academy in its formation was reduced to only one possible development, as was generally thought at the time of the Italian school of landscape painting. Hence arose the term "Italian (and therefore academic. - Aut.) Landscape" is beautiful image (form) beautiful country (content). Gradual natural (or evolutionary) departure from the academic landscape is observed in Russian painting actually the middle of XIX century. And although the purity of lines in the landscape (and not only there) painting - the concept is rather relative, hypothetically allocate academic landscape painting in shape (beautiful in execution) and bright on the content (say, plain piece of nature). To some this direction and belong to the landscapes Julia Yul'evich clover, a native of Dorpat (now - Tartu, Estonia), who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (1867-1870) in SM Vorobyov and MK Klodt. His work has enjoyed great success with his contemporaries: Village on the island Nargen (1881), Abandoned Mill (1890), Fisherman's Village (1892), finally, forgotten cemetery (1890). Perhaps his paintings of many excited and worried. But, no doubt, they delight the eye, evoke a feeling akin to emotion, give an understanding that written by a talented painter. Last objectively, because the picture YY Klever is still in great demand on the antiques market. Naturally, YY Clover reached and formal recognition: he is an academician of painting, professor of the Academy of Arts, a founding member of the Society of exhibitions of works of art.
