Pierre Alechinsky
Belgian painter, born in Brussels on 19.10.1927. From 1944 to 1948 he studied at the Brussels State High School of Architecture and Fine Arts book drawing, printing and photography. It was at this time, he discovered Henri Michaux, Dubuffet and the Surrealists. Since 1947 he began to paint. At this time he was a member of the group "Bolodaya painting of Belgium.
He quickly became one of the most significant artists of the postwar Belgium.
