Nikolay Mikhailovich Nicholas (November 1 [13 ноября] 1877, Moscow - November 19, 1959, Minsk) - Russian Soviet historian, biblical scholar, orientalist, son of M. C. Nicholas (also orientalist). A graduate of Moscow University (1900). For some time he taught at the national University in Nizhny Novgorod. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR (1931), corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences (04.12.1946, Department of history and philosophy[1]); author of works on the history of religion, history of the Ancient East. Philologist, specialist in Semitic languages and cuneiform.
During the occupation of Belarus by Nazi forces during the great Patriotic war academician N. M Nicholas was a partisan. He was awarded two orders of Lenin, order of red banner of Labor.
