He studied at the Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture (1875 - 1882) in B. T. Perova and I. M. Pryanishnikov and at the Academy of fine arts (1882-1890) p. P. Chistyakov and B. N. Vereshchagin. Was associated with the Association "World of art", the Union of Russian artists.
