Default Records Christie's

Went to Christie's to see the results of yesterday's Post-War and Contemporary, so yes there he remained.
Stunned .
For all news regurgitate the news about the new record prices for paintings - triptych by Francis Bacon 142 405 000 $ . And the estimate was available on request , according to unofficial sources in the $ 85 million that was just a sales record Bacon. That is, they started with a record - safely . I thank God not asked to make a prediction on it , and then sat down in a puddle with his careful - " He'll get away before the $ 100 million " to assume more afraid . But would not write about it - there all auction such amounts less than a few million , and there is almost . It feels that this group of artists began to lead in the prices of all the others, including the Impressionists.
Moreover if I had the choice (and maybe still is , you never know ... ) to hang at home with Monet or Rothko Basquiat - Basquiat would hang it from Rothko .
But go over the prices , warm ourselves in the glow of millions , so to speak.

Basquiat lot number 6

Balloon Dog (Orange)

Andy Warhol Lot 27
$ 57,285,000 Estimate $ 40,000,000 - $ 60,000,000

Roy Lichtenstein Lot 34
Seductive Girl
$ 31,525,000 Estimate $ 22,000,000 - $ 28,000,000

Gerhard Richter Lot 35

Well, how cool is that?
And though that be not sold to exclaim in the hearts - yes. And also interested in:

Imagine the "scope" of the international market scale of Western contemporary art is to launder money.
Launderers do not want.
Hurry to our shadow structures have realized this, we'll live here!

Our shadow structures give each other icons and the market (as I have recently said one trader icons ) is thriving.
About money laundering in our country - what amounts of money are talking about? About the tens and hundreds of millions of dollars? For those who have it so the question is not necessary to wash the need to trust the system , and understand that if properly laundered (or honestly earned) that matters to you , no one will. Conversely , if not laundered sooner or later caught. Both options are not our case , so instead of just washing the capital out of the country.

I wonder about that " money laundering " at the auctions.
Does anyone smodet explain it to me ?
Laundering , as I understand it , is the legalization of criminal money . How this money may be legalized by buying Basquiat painting , for example, at auction Christie's?

At the market, very different amounts , you hardly find a sale of Russian icons for a million dollars, if at all here.
In Russia , for example , the most expensive icon ( and one of the most expensive sales autsionnyh icons in the world ) , sold at public auction - " Nikola in the Life of " the end of the XV century , Gelos , 207 g - 7,000,000 rubles. ( $ 274 000 ) .
Maybe someone knows the numbers above?

In the words of the same seller icons - Icons in the price range 20 000 - 50 000 $ rarity ( age 18-17 ) and fly to the time . The most difficult segment 500 - 1000 $ . But also for sale .
Giving icon handy because unlike hours where immediately clear how much they cost , the old icon looks solid and expensive.

Then perhaps we can talk not about buying and selling on . Sold the painting (even though Basquiat ) got paid for it , paid their taxes , and here they are in the bank laundered . Where did Basquiat ? Well this is the second question - bought 20 -years old back when it was worth $ 20,000 , for example.

And so - yes.
But , I suppose, like the legalization of criminal money is relevant for the same type of crime , and who is it? Colombian drug lord ? A corrupt official, a " strongman " of Russia ?
That is , in theory, it is clear , but in practice - not very.

I can not imagine Russian " enforcer " with a bag of Nala scour the New York area galleries in search doroguschego Basquiat , so you thing of this website put up for Christie's, in order to get the amount of care to your bank account. <! - ~ 1 ~ ->
Or I have a primitive idea of such a scheme ?

Arkady, what do you say? I have data Famara.
 Icons expensive 100 - 150t . U.S. really rare , it's either the antiquity of the 16th century and earlier, or subscription Mstera things ( Chirikov Gurianov etc. ) or enameled powerfully in salaries suppliers yard EIV .

When did it happen?

Himself, Jean-Michel Basquiat, recall, died in 1988, a quarter of a century ago.
Incidentally, a year and a half after the death of Andy Warhol, who also still can not "lyasnetsya".
