February 19 in the Benois Wing of the Russian Museum opened an exhibition of Nikolai Feshin.
The exhibition runs until May 14. Published catalog of 120 pages (price approx. 1,000 rubles). Work from Kazan, RM, TG, provincial museums, museums U.S. private collections. After Peter's exhibition will travel to Moscow, then in the U.S.. Abstract Timing: The exhibition presents the work of world-famous Russian artist, who left his homeland in 1923 and subsequently lived and worked in the U.S.. The exhibition includes about 100 paintings and graphic works from the Russian Museum, State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan, Kozmodemyansk cultural and historical museum complex, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Scientific Research Academy of Fine Arts Museum and private collections in the U.S. and Switzerland. Already in early works Feshin is distinctive, recognizable style, marked by masterly lines, rich nuance of complex color transitions and increased emotionality free brushwork. Imaginative solution portraits 1900-1910's, through which the artist has been gaining popularity and recognition, marked an organic combination of plastic discoveries impressionism, modernism and tradition of realistic painting. The exhibition introduces the well-known and unfamiliar works Feshin wide audience, made in St. Petersburg and Kazan, where the artist in pre-revolutionary decade, creates its own school of painting, and with sufficient detail illuminates the American period of his work (1920-1950's). Along with portraits, in which most clearly revealed uncommon talent Feshin picturesque, presents his earlier thematic work, pictorial and graphic Study nudes, still life and landscape designs, as well as images of indigenous inhabitants of the south-western regions of the United States, constituting a special, much like the page in the works the master, and in the history of American culture. The exhibition is organized with the assistance of the Foundation for International Arts and Education (U.S.). What else I can add the exposure is made very traditionally, solidly and without show off - mostly chronologically (only about 80-90 works, mostly paintings, literally dozens of graphic sheets). The main is my personal impression of Feshin not transformed into quality, that is, after meeting with an exhibition of my opinion of Feshin-artist has not changed (secretly hoping for a change for the better), but was unexpectedly good portrait Burliuk with a green ring in his ear. However, this is my subjective opinion, which would not like to impose on anyone. Organizers complained that it is not brought from Kazan, one of the masterpieces - "Douche." In the first post gathered that identified for themselves, then - all else 2 - acts as the U.S. Consul General in St. Petersburg 3 - acts Tuluzakova, author of the catalog 5 - Self-Portrait 6, 8 - David Burliuk 7 - Maroussia Burliuk Last edited by fabosch; 29-02-2012 at 21:50. |

fabosch, thanks for the report.
Here, it is interesting to compare this head with the "famous" work. She is now in the timing, too, from a private collection (Russia, USA), it is curious .. And what a thing previously written? |
