State Museum and Exhibition Centre and the company ROSPHOTO Alinari 24 Ore present an exhibition of works by great masters of Italian photography "Images of Italy. 1841-1941 "from the funds of the Florentine Museum of History photo Alinari brothers - Europe's leading museum of photography in the XIX century. The exhibition is part of the official program of the Italian language and culture in Russia.

The exhibition, which includes more than 160 works, is an excursion into the history of Italian photography from 1841 to 1941. Gallery of great photographers called the creators of the first in Italy daguerreotypes (Amici, Duroni) and kalotipov (Verachi). "Golden Age" pictures reflected in the works of leading studios that were in the main tourist centers in Italy - Venice (Brezolin, Ponti, Perini), Florence (Alinari Brothers studio, and J. Broggi) and Rome (Kanev, J. Anderson, McPherson). Photo of Southern Italy is represented by George and Robert Sommer Raivio - the masters of foreign origin, who lived and worked in Naples.

1908 earthquake that destroyed Messina and Reggio, Italy has become symbolic for the turn of XX century. Earthquake captured almost all the Italian photographers of the time. The exhibition can be seen on this theme of Luke Comerio and Wilhelm von Gledena - the crucial figure for Italian photography turn of the century. Photo of the first half of the XX century is represented by works of famous artists belonging to different artistic currents-pictorialism (Guido Rey, Peretti Griva), Futurism (Paladin, Wanda Vyults, Kastaneri, Parisio), surrealism (Mollino), as well as the first neo-realist experiments Alberto Lattuada.
