October 8 at the Kiev Museum of Russian Art will host an exhibition Wrobel and Kiev, dedicated to 155th anniversary of the artist.

Life Vrubel closely connected with Kiev. Here began an independent career of the artist. During his stay in Kiev (1884 - 1889), which itself Wrobel, was "the best period of my life," were a time of rapid formation of his creative method, which has become an integral part of Russian modernism.

In Kiev, he wrote such masterpieces as The Girl on the background of the Persian Carpet, Oriental fairy tale, an angel with a censer and candles, here Wrobel began working on a way the Demon.

The exhibition is devoted to the Kiev and Wrobel 155-th anniversary of the artist and is the tenth (Jubilee) exhibition of his works in the Ukrainian capital. Exhibit of works by Vrubel in Kiev museum of Russian art have become a tradition since 1976, according to the press service of the Kiev Museum of Russian Art.

According to organizers of the exhibition, the museum owns one of the most important collections of works of the Kievan period, which formed the basis of exposure Wrobel and Kiev.

The idea of ​​the exhibition - to show the most significant thematic layers and different facets of the master. The exposition is divided into four sections (for details, people, flowers, gods, angels, prophets).

The exhibition will feature approximately 120 paintings, drawings and sculptures.

In addition, the exhibition will be lectures, theatrical performances for children. At the conclusion of the exhibition will be held Piano Concerto.

Wrobel and exhibition will be opened in Kiev Kiev Museum of Russian Art (Street Tereschenkivska 9) from October 8 to November 6, 2011.
