Crimean painter. Landscape painter, portraitist, a master of thematic painting and still life. One of the founders of the Crimean school "of painting.

Born January 13, 1917 in s.Ozeryane Chernihiv region. First, he studied under Professor Academy of Fine Arts AP Eisner. In the years 1937-1940. - Studied at the Leningrad Art College. In 1940 - he entered the Art Academy in Leningrad. World War II. In 1950 - graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts. Educators - B. Yoganson, O. Zaitsev. For brilliant achievements after I year was marked by a Stalin scholarship. After graduating from the academy with a group of top graduates (F. Z. Zakharov, NF Bortnikov, VA Apanovich, etc.) was sent to the Ministry of Culture of the USSR to Crimea to teach in the Crimean Art College. NS Samokisha, where he taught in the years 1950-1952. Since 1958 - Member NSHU. From 1951 - participant of the city, region, union and in 1983 - foreign (United Kingdom, Japan, Greece, USA, France) shows. From 1970 to 1980. - Chairman of the Crimean organization of the Union of Artists. Since 1976 - Honored Artist of Ukraine. In 1976 - was awarded the Order of Honour. Since 1989 - People's Artist of Ukraine. From 2003 - People's Artist of Russia. From 2007 - Honored Artist of the ARC. State Prize Laureate of the ARC. From 2009 - Honorary Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. In 2010 - gold medal "for contribution to world culture," International Foundation "Cultural Heritage" (Russia). In 2011 - was awarded the insignia of the ARC "For devotion to duty." His works are in museums and private collections in Ukraine, Russia, USA, France, Holland and Britain. Lives and works in Simferopol.

There are people that can be legends, write books, write poems. Valentin Danilovich Bernadskii - such a man. He is currently 94 years old. A behind career-long 70 years. It is not surprising that each of his solo exhibition - an event in the cultural life of the city, Crimea, the country and not just for art historians, connoisseurs of talent of the artist, but also for all lovers of beauty.
 The current exhibition in our gallery is traditionally retrospective and present more than 110 paintings by Valentina Bernadskii written in different years. The creative scope of the artist can not but admire: thematic paintings, portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and in everything - his own handwriting, a particular manner.
Valentin Bernadskii with Nikolai Bortnikov, Victor Apanovich, Fedor Zakharov, Valentina Tsvetkova, laid the foundations of the Crimean realist school of painting. No wonder it is now called the patriarch of the Ukrainian art.
