Basov, Jacob A. (1914-2004) - Patriarch of the Crimean painting as it is sometimes called, a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1978 Honored Artist of the USSR in 2004 year to its 90 anniversary, he was awarded the honorary title of People's Artist of Ukraine. To begin with some statistics -

During 90 years of living, Yakov Aleksandrovich has created over 8,000 jobs. Spent more than 60ti solo exhibitions in Leningrad, Kiev, Simferopol, Sevastopol, Feodosiya, Kherson, Zaporozhye, Yalta, Alupka. The artist's works were exhibited at 37mi exhibitions in 22 countries. His works are in private collections in Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Germany, Britain, Italy, Spain, Canada, Turkey, etc. Many papers were donated by Yakov Aleksandrovich Crimean museums, not infrequently they were whole collections, as well as public organizations, collectors, friends and spectators. Jacob was born in 1914godu Basov in Simferopol. From 8 years old, in 1922 began teaching at the studio the legendary Nikolai Semenovich Samokisha and was directly to his disciple. In 1931, he, the same recommendation Jacob Basov went to study in Leningrad, where he showed his early work and was accepted into the All-Russian Academy of Arts without exams and graduated in 1937. Artistic career began in 1935, organized his first big exhibition in Samarkand, while still a student. After the war, in 1946, after demobilization from the army, Jacob Basov moved to his native Crimea, settles in Alupka (Yalta) and head dips into the world of the Crimean landscape. All the years he worked in a variety of genres: landscape, portrait, still life. In the first half of his creative activity Yakov Basov oil painting, the second - in watercolor. From 1946 to 1962 he worked in the genre of oil painting seascape, created a series of landscapes of Moscow, Leningrad, Baltic, Russian North, the Crimea. Since 1962, he began to work so well in the genre of landscape in watercolor. Although Jacob wrote Basov and
portraits, still life, landscape became his favorite genre, and watercolors - a favorite tool. And despite the fact that the watercolors Jacob Basov only came in the second half of his career, he earned his fame as one of the best watercolors of the Soviet era. The creativity Jacob Basov contributed to the development of fine arts Crimea, Ukraine, pushed the boundaries of landscape painting. Jacob died Basov, in March 2004, the 91-year life, leaving us with rich artistic heritage ...

After the death of Yakov Alexandrovich in 2007 was published the book "Solar artist. Basov in memory of James's contemporaries,
