Mikhail Kalinin, a large porcelain factory, one of the oldest in the USSR. Located in Konakovo Kalinin region of the RSFSR. From November 1924 was named after MI Kalinin. Produces tableware, decorative vessels and sculpture (earthenware, majolica) from imported raw materials. Konakovo porcelain factory founded in 1809, purchased in 1870, MS Kuznetsov for AA Auerbach. Produced mainly Ampire crockery-printed and hand painted (often in the spirit of folk pottery Gzhel). By 1890 years. Plant has mastered the production of tableware and polufayansa, majolica, porcelain, but its form and decoration are marked decline of artistic quality, characteristic for the entire factory output end 19. Since the mid 1920's. work on shape and painted vessels, and to create sculptures (mostly animalistic) plant has begun to attract major artists (IG Frederick Hardy, SD Lebedeva, VA Tabor, I. Efimov, G. Filyanskaya, MP Cool, E. Gurevich, G. Alterman). Their product, different in their stylistic features, contributed to the overall rise in the artistic side of production. In 1950, the 60-ies. leading artists of the plant, IV Vasil'ev, OG, Belova, G. Weber, O. Gagnidze, GM Sadnikov, VA Sergeev, and others agreed on a common plant and is responsible for the modern interior style products in which organic for faience and majolica rounded highlighted cheerful color painting or potechnoy glaze. The plant's products are exported to many countries. During 1913-71 the output of the plant in kind has increased almost 5.5-fold (from 17 million to 92.6 million units of products). In the 50's and 60's. Factory rebuilt. Production of the plant is awarded a silver medal at the World Exhibition in Brussels (1958) and a gold medal at the World Exhibition of Ceramics in Prague (1962).
