The Story of a portrait

He tried to understand the secrets LIFE
Our close artistic past in the minds of today's generation is reflected mostly negatively. In the best case for him manifests indifference or supercilious condescension. This vast reservoir of our culture can remain completely unexplored new generation due to the fact that the culture of the time associated with the ideological factor and its influence on art, which essentially has become opportunistic stereotype. With this one-dimensional approach to the past is forgotten, that at this age have enough power out to nominate one of their brilliant creative personality, the art which still affects its nobility and high skill. They help society navigate the world, supported by hopes for the revival and the possibility of overcoming the difficulties of life. Personal choice was very wide and is painted individually, while not devoid of national poetry, the national feeling of space and time. Sufficient to refer to Saryan with his perception of nature as the arena of life in Armenia. And finally, no mention of the most important - of the existence of the highest professional school, the purity is not only preserved but also developed the artists whose work today has become a classic. Today's younger generation were exposed to the general decline of culture, which resulted in frustration and spiritual walk. In this situation, a place of true art in a hurry to take a mass culture, can neither create nor preserve artistic treasures, thanks to which our art is still in the field of attention of world civilization. This is no exaggeration. The reason for this is that the school created the efforts of artists of previous generations, yet continues to live on inertia. Now we'll discuss one of these artists - Romanos Sargsyan, who remember well the audience, his friends, colleagues and students. By virtue of his temperament, he never fell into despair, with no consideration was devoted to the arts and worked until his last breath in the full force of his powerful gift. Emotion and content of his works and deeds have always been in close unity. Moral strength of the artist appears in all areas of creativity. Being a long time rector of Art and Theater Institute, having some amazing teachers' pathos, Romanos loved all his students and believed the talented, but not because of their naivete. Just saw it in every person and their future colleagues. He considered teaching is not less important than creativity. Having acquired a great school at the Leningrad Academy of Arts, R. Sarkisian implanting its main principles into their teaching methods. In addition to the necessary professional literacy, requiring perseverance and diligence, Romanos demanded for a moment not to forget that this is not done for shkolyarskoy theme of passivity, but to catch a live bunch of feelings. After the picture - this is not a pure blend of colors and lines, it can not be divorced from meaning. Today, after years after his death, his image comes through one main feature - its immense moral passion and belief that any product should not only have artistic merit, but also spiritual value. Romanos Sarkisian was convinced that doing good work, well, he seemed to show stunt immodest and summarizing. All work Romanos leave feeling that they were written with one purpose - to overcome all the obstacles that hide the essence of the depicted, to reach the main features of an object using color, shape, plastic - in other words, to make portrayed an exciting and viable. Romanos Sargsyan had a keen sense of nature and the unusual strength of the picturesque talent, which struck its accuracy and power. In his work was dominated by the traditional repertoire - landscape, portrait, still life. And in these genres, he was a classical, but not dogmatic, as this classic is always subordinate to the novelty of feelings and ideas. Armenian or Russian landscape he writes, that allows the viewer to dive into it with abandon, to experience the clarity and strength of internal connections, but in the end the viewer feels gratitude to nature and being. And no matter how banal nor was nature, the artist makes it unique, mysterious and alluring. Therein lies the skill of the artist - to force the viewer to look around the eyes, spiritual and insightful. And for that, Romanos do not need a dramatic painted images or dynamic action, or encrypted language of symbols and allegories. In his works, all very natural and close to the living reality. But the work of R. Sarkisian - this is not a simple reflection of reality. Its main purpose and theme - the world is not around, and within each person and relationship with the world. The artist filled it invisible to us with energy, making it a tangible and visible through her strong painting, rapid movement of the strokes, subordinates the indisputable law of harmony and integrity of the represented. Beauty and order of the universe is trying to find Romanos, reflect and celebrate. Even the most banal landscape for him - it's always changing sentiment, but sentiment reminiscent not sadness and sorrow, and the full expectations of something outstanding, entailing in the future. Simple garden with cabbage patch, summer garden terrace with sink gain on his canvases the tension and emotion. The old bridge strikes Ashtarak activity of painting. Its masonry is fixed with such certainty, such a workshop of freedom, with such richness and intensity of tonal colors that seem to be the artist himself imbued with the power of the creative spirit of the builders of those great years. Unlike the Impressionists, inspired by an instant impression, R. Sarkisian wrote a long process of experience. And it turns out the picture, which is compressed and thickened reality itself and its capacious generalization. Still Lifes Romanos unfold on the canvas as an expression of delight in front of the artist's natural forms. He writes not just fruit, but their excitement and a brief portion of happiness in the contemplation of the fleeting beauty. The technical virtuosity of his painting is so high that it seemed to him that is enough for success. But the artist in each work attempts to reconcile the joy of aesthetic experience as exciting and sometimes dramatic anticipation of the unknown. Is most vividly reflected in his portraits. And for an artist no matter who sits in front of them - mother or a stranger - in each he sees the invisible, even concealed. The viewer goes to the author, and believes him, even when Romanos allows himself to reveal his subjective attitude to the man. This is evidence that R. Sarkisian was a true artist, who until the last day trying to comprehend the mystery of ever new in its forms of life. That's why neuemnost his talent and vitality of thirst, his confusion before the time of spilled beyond the painting. He was an outstanding poet, and on this side of his gift very few people knew ...
