Name Martiros Sergeevich Saryan (1880-1972), a brilliant artist, an outstanding theorist and a public figure, belongs to the Russian culture and simultaneously a symbol of Armenian art. His works are in the permanent exhibition of the Tretyakov Gallery, but for our museum shows its collection of MS Saryan entirely.

MS Saryan studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, parallel assimilating the lessons of Impressionism and the principle plane of decorative painting in the workshop of Valentin Serov and Konstantin Korovin. Since entering the school, he made friends with his classmates PV Kuznetsov, PS Utkin and other young Symbolists and joined the tendencies of French art abroad XIX-XX centuries.
MS Saryan always felt a gravitation to national origins. The artist first went to Armenia in the twenties, and unique landscapes and colors of life of the people of this country gave a powerful impetus to his creative quest.
In 1907, the MS Saryan participated in a landmark exhibition for the symbolists "Blue Rose" cycle "Tales and Dreams". Both he and his associates were going fantastic images of fairy tales, which enable the free circulation of form and color. The artist has developed his own, unlike any other, painterly manner. "On one side Saryan were mystics, led by Kuznetsov, on the other - Mystifier - Sapunov Sudeikin Milioti" - wrote A. Efros. MS Saryan, with its lively and immediate perception of reality, was close to the position of the child - the embodiment of true understanding of the environment in the art symbolism.

Gregory Khanjian one of the masters of fine arts in Armenia. It is widely known as a painter, book illustrator and designer of large-scale tapestries on historical themes.

Presentation of historical events of his native people took place in the consciousness of the artist gradually becoming a full and complete only with the years. His interpretation of historical topics has become clear in the illustrations for the novel Abovyan "Wounds of Armenia", in his view of the tragic events described in the book, people involved in those events and the main character, leading the people. In black and white pages, business and nature of Agasi, the main hero of the novel, presented with romance and inspiration.

People's Artist of Armenian SSR (1935).
He was born in 1865. Western Armenia (now territory of Turkey) in the family of the landowner.

Tiflis, Anastasievskaya, 11. Three small rooms, small kitchen and an open balcony on the third floor of the house in the European part of the city. Here at the beginning of the twentieth century, in 1901, settled Egishe Martirosovich Tatevosyan with his wife Justine.

First of all I want to say that I do not want to offend anyone.
No accounting for tastes, as you know.
But I honestly do not understand how you can make investments in the Armenian artists, many of whom I love and respect, in the Russian speaking countries?
I hear accusations of nationalism, chauvinism, etc., but from time immemorial known that the national art more clearly geographically as portraits of interest only to family members or really interesting portraits only superizvestnyh personalities.
I write this not to quarrel with lovers of Armenian artists, but this is subject to the readability of the second after the "promotion of artists." During Soviet times, when trying to artificially preserve the empire, any national art implanted throughout the republics, in other words, museums were filled with "salad" of artists of different nationalities.
