But he looked like!? Thank you for your name!

The fact that the artist - the modernist Isaac Grunewald was a disciple of the Matisse, the most prominent representative of the Swedish modernism.

And that's where I took this:

"Once in Stockholm, you just can not not visit the famous Tilskuyu gallery on the island of Djurgarden. If you do not, you simply do not understand." But it's not the point - you really get a tremendous pleasure, and not only from the stunning collection of paintings, but also on how great these pictures fit into the interior and the landscape. You go, looking at paintings, and suddenly - what is it? "And this is not a picture, it opens. founded this gallery also a Jew - a prominent financier, philanthropist and collector Ernest Thiel. At the end of the XIX century, he opened his own bank in Stockholm, but the banker was strange: he wrote poetry, translated, translated, for example, a Swedish translation of Nietzsche. his marriage, he entered a relationship with the family Bonnier (also his own people, the most famous publishers of the country, namely, they remain to this day) and ended up in an artistic environment of the capital.

Began to collect paintings for them in 1907, rebuilt the gallery. It is the original homestead for her erected in 1907, a fashionable architect Ferdinand Buberg. They found a place of outstanding artists of Scandinavian paintings, art and friendship are valued Thiel. This Edvard Munch, Carl Larsson, Eugenio Jansson. Ernest Thiel supported financially artist-naturalist, Bruno Liljefors, place orders realist Anders Zorn, a modernist Isaac Grunewald. Grunewald, by the way - a Jew, a pupil of Matisse, the most prominent representative of Swedish modernism. In 20-ies Ernest Thiel, experiencing serious financial difficulties, sold his treasure to the state. "
