Artist William Barrand

William Barraud (1810 - October 1, 1850) was an English painter animal painter and illustrator. His brother Henry Barraud was also an artist, with whom he collaborated on many works. Some of these collaborations have been exhibited at the Royal Academy.
William was born in Lambeth, London, one of 17 children of William Francis Barraud (1783-1833.
After school, he said, was a clerk in the Custom House, where his father worked (although there is no record of it), but eventually became an apprentice painter Abraham Cooper. As animal artist, he specialized in painting horses and dogs, exhibiting at the Royal Academy from 1829-50, the British Institute in 1828 -49, Society of British Artists, and in other places. His works were popular with rangers and dog breeders. He also produced some of the historical and landscape painting.
William died in Kensington, London from dysentery and typhoid October 1, 1850, in his fortieth year.
