Italian painter Giovanni Boldini - one of the best portrait painters of the late XIX — early XX century.
he was Born in Ferrara, 31 December 1842 in the family of the artist.He was the eighth child in his family. He studied at the Florentine Academy of fine arts. From 1869 he worked in London, where he gained fame as a portraitist. In 1872 he settled in Paris and began to exhibit his work in the Salon. Made friends with the artists Edgar Degas and John Sargent. Left portraits of many prominent representatives of the Belle époque. Was one of the most famous and well-paid portraitist of his time. Won the Grand Prix at the World exhibition in Paris in 1889 and 1900. Died in Paris on 12 January 1931.
